My name is Dan Kolansky. I have wanted to be an entrepreneur ever since I was young. I remember riding in the car (I must have been less than 10 years old) and telling my Mom that I wanted to own a business.
That was the beginning of the resistance that I found entrepreneurs face every day. Her response to me at that time was “oh, no, you don’t want to do that, dear. You want to get a job where you’ll be safe.”
Needless to say, out of all the advice that she gave me while growing up, that was the only piece that I disregarded and have yet to regret
.
Since I got married in 2006 to my wonderful wife, Kristin, I have been in business for myself. I got into business for a few reasons, but at the time it was mainly because I knew that in Northern Virginia, where I am based out of, I just couldn’t make a living wage for two. We live in an expensive area and so business (ha, if only I knew what I was getting myself into) seemed like the only viable solution.
Jumping in head first I read every book that I could get my hands on related to business or sales. I learned a ton. After meeting Marvin Powell a Small Business Coach it all started to click and I quickly became successful at networking and my small business fixing computers.
Not being quite satisfied with what I was doing, I am now reaching out to the web. At the beginning of 2009 I made a commitment to myself that by the end of 2009 I would be making the majority of my income from the web. I spent most of my teen years online and so it is only natural that I should be able to develop my business online.
Here is a quick GAINS profile for myself:
